The Gift of Presence of artistry, beauty, and creativity that have been left behind. Through Black History Month I have been contemplating this word. What does it mean to celebrate, and steward the gifts that I have been given?

This year I have been so thankful for the gift of presence. The ability to be seen--the opportunity to bring all parts of myself to my artistic practice and to share my music with others. I know this is only possible because of the legacy I have been given. It is because of the bravery, courage, and perseverance of black men and womxn who have come before me that I can share my gifts freely.

As I reflect on their journey, I honour their stories. Let us continue to reflect on Black History Legacy all year long...
